Band Info:
HELLBASTARD are back, after many, many years of silence the Metal Crusties from the UK deliver a brand new album. Singer and guitarist Scruff (only left member from the old line-up) added two new members, then they went to the HELLFIRE Studios in Birmingham and recorded 14 furious Metal sonx for this LP. Some people will be surprised that the new sound is very metallic but I love the new songs. Crushing, fast and thrashy sonx with a lot of variety, way more modern Thrash Metal than the metallic Crust HELLBASTARD used to play in the past. This is the new HELLBASTARD of today !!!! Listen to their sound, bang your head and jump around like a maniac !!!
REVIEWS:
AUDIODROME WEBZINE / ITALY (by Michele)
Consigliato.
Rough Translation:
During last times we met quite many reunions, some of them pushed by a real will to add something new to the band discography, many others just to take back some past glory, lasting just a second and resulting in embarassing records.Often, when you have new members to back the former ones, the final result can be something completely different or, on the opposite, you can find a suspicious attempt ot come back to the early style, in a silly attempt to cancel what the band did just before to call the quits. The new HELLBASTARD album (nowadays formed by Scruff, backed by new-entries Gianluca and Joint) is far from all of this and presents a band in a top form, able to follow what was started back in time with credibility and loyal to Hellbastard evolution, closer to the band last recordings than to raw crust beginnings, yet holding the aware attitude that always marked their lyrics and approach. In brief, “The Need To Kill” is a well produced and greatly played album, in which technically backed thrash assaults melts withCrust fury to produce a killer sonic orgy.Released on vinyl by CIVILISATION RECORDS, “The Need To Kill” sports the top graphics by Gabriele Santamaria and a precious sound, both in distorted parts than in variations created to enrich and add value to the tracks. HELLBASTARD created an actual yet traditional album, built around a dynamic and honest song writing, so deserving to enter the band discography next to their most acclaimed releases. Obviously,”Ripper Crust” times are far from here, but the band was able to evolve its language in the right direction, so this is another sign stressing how this reunion is based on a solid ground and not just to grab some past glory. It demonstrates proper bases and a well designed personality. Highly suggested!
